CBT NUGGETS CIW JavaScript Fundamentals
Posted by bandr under JavaScript, Video Training
If you’re not using JavaScript to make your webpages more dynamic, you’re missing out on one of the best ways to add interesting features to your site.
Add JavaScript flair to your website
The CIW JavaScript Fundamentals series will give you a running start programming in JavaScript. You’ll learn to create tools that make your website more interactive, and more interesting to visitors. You’ll be able to use what you learn to add cool JavaScript functionality to your webpages right away.
The CIW JavaScript Fundamentals Series uses real-world examples to teach you how to embed JavaScript functions into your webpage. As you watch the videos and follow along with the demonstrations step-by-step, you’ll recognize techniques you can apply in your web development right away.
The JavaScript need-to-know checklist: functions, objects, forms, and cookies
- You’ll create and use JavaScript functions – the building blocks for embedding scripts into your webpage. And you’ll learn how to apply programming commands such as if…else, while, do…while, and for to control the flow of your programs.
- You’ll define and edit objects. You’ll learn about the document, window, image, location, navigator, and history objects, which are each used in their own way to control how users experience your site. Plus you’ll learn about string, array, date, and math objects – programmer’s tools for creating advanced functionality with your scripts.
- You’ll practice handling form data using JavaScript. This ranges from determining how a user can enter information, to validating what they’ve entered. (C’mon, does that really look like an e-mail address?!)
- You’ll also learn to use cookies – an essential part of customizing a user’s experience of your website. You’ll learn how to assign, read, and edit a cookie, and even how you can change webpage functionality based on what the cookie contains.
Pump up your websites… plus your resume
Once you’ve studied the CIW JavaScript Fundamentals series, you’ll have the skills needed to program the front-end functionalities required for 90+% of the websites out there. Plus you’ll know where to go to build on that knowledge so you can give your website that extra little kick.
The CIW JavaScript Fundamentals series also provides you the knowledge to get certified. The content maps to the exam objectives for the JavaScript Fundamentals exam 1D0-435 from Prosoft/CIWcertified.com. This exam is part of the certification track for Master CIW Web Site Manager and Master CIW Enterprise Developer, fitting under the Web Languages requirement.
Make a commitment to yourself that you’re going to make your websites more interesting. And that you’re going to add this JavaScript credential to your resume. Get the CIW JavaScript Fundamentals series today, and begin training immediately with either Electronic Delivery or Goldrush Streaming as your delivery method.

Hello, I found this blog post while searching for help with JavaScript. I have recently switched browsers from Chrome to IE. Now I seem to have a issue with loading JavaScript. Everytime I browse page that needs Javascript, my browser freezes and I get a “runtime error javascript.JSException: Unknown name”. I cannot seem to find out how to fix it. Any aid is greatly appreciated! Thanks
